Angiogenin-1, human, recombinant
Angiogenin (ANG) belongs to the pancreatic ribonuclease family, showing 33% amino acid sequence similarity to the bovine pancreatic ribonuclease (Rnase) A, but being less enzymatic efficient. It is one of the most potent angiogenesis factors, inducing vascularization of normal as well as malignant tissues. The angiogenic activity seems to depend on both its ribonucleolytic activity and the translocation to the nucleus of epithelial cells and regulation of gene expression by direct binding to DNA. Angiogenin is capable of inhibiting cellular protein synthesis, due to its tRNA-specific cytotoxic effects. Various cell lines secrete Angiogenin, it is also present in normal human plasma.

ISOkine™ recombinant human Angiogenin-1 is produced in the endosperm tissue of barley grain (Hordeum vulgare), that exhibits up to 50 times less protease activity than E.coli or mammalian cells. Barley seed is void of any human or animal viral contaminants that could jeopardize your cell culture.

Greater than 95% by SDS-PAGE gel analysis.
Note: Always centrifuge the vial before opening. It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized protein in sterile water to a concentration of no less than 100 µg/ml. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).
The lyophilized protein, though stable at room temperature for few weeks, is best stored at -20°C. Reconstituted protein should be used immediately or stored in working aliquots at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
No commercial bioassay is available. The identity of the protein was confirmed by western blotting with protein specific antibodies (cat. no AF265 from RnD systems) and by mass spectrometry.

Recombinant human Angiogenin-1 contains 124 amino acids and a 16 a.a. histidine-based tag for a total length of 140 a.a. and has a predicted molecular mass of 16.4 kDa including his-tag. The recombinant protein migrates with an apparent molecular mass of 21 kDa in SDS-PAGE.
