Why animal-free in barley produces cleaner proteins
The Orfeus barley-seed expression platform is the only reason ORF's three product lines are all endotoxin-free, animal-free, and consistently high-bioactivity. It is the shared quality foundation.
No endotoxins, by choice of host
Bacterial expression systems produce lipopolysaccharide endotoxins as a natural by-product. ORF's barley host produces no endotoxins -- the result is an expression platform where endotoxin-free is the default, not a downstream purification target. Every lot is confirmed below 0.01 EU/µg.
Bioactivity data ships with every order
Each lot is tested in a cell-based proliferation assay before release. MESOkine bioactivity is confirmed by independent research organisations against a highly purified commercial reference. ISOkine bioactivity is at least comparable to, or higher than, commercially available mammalian-expressed references -- reflecting native eukaryotic folding and glycosylation from the plant host.

Yes. The barley-seed expression platform is designed for scale -- MESOkine in particular was built to address the cost and scale gap in cultivated-meat production. ORF raised funding to increase MESOkine capacity 14x by 2027. Supply reliability and consistent quality at volume are a core design goal.
Every product ships with a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) confirming purity and bioactivity for that lot. Datasheets (DS), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and Certificates of Origin (CoO) are available for every product. ORF is ISO 9001:2015 certified and on the road to GMP.
